Entry Deadline: Monday 30th November -0001
Summary:
The Temple Legal Regatta is a nice little event for those who would like to give something back, because this event is all about charity, with competitors racing for the honour of donating to their chosen charity. Setting out from Port Hamble, this event is basically a day of informal racing with a bit of guidance and help on hand from the Skipper and Mate, the difference comes in the fact that Each team in the regatta will donate £300 to the charity pot as part of your entry fee (as above). The winners will then nominate a charity of their choice to receive 50% of the charity pot, 2nd place will nominate 30% and the 3rd place boat will nominate the remaining 20%, meaning each team will be racing to win funds for their own nominated charity.
Thus racing has a wholesome bit of added spice, but before hostilities can commence, the morning is devoted to a bit of training and basic race preparation. It is only following the extremely sleek and streamlined racing lunch held aboard that sails are hoisted in anger and a series of three short races are held to decide bragging rights.
Following this, the yachts return to Port Hamble for a spot of afternoon tea and the prize giving. This is a great team building exercise and a lot of fun for all involved. It is also worth mentioning that crewmembers are welcome to stay aboard the yachts on the night prior to the event if required and there is no extra charge for this.
