Those turning up to this event expecting to witness David Walliams and Matt Lucas can think again, but they will probably be the only ones disappointed, as the Little Britain Challenge has become the biggest industry regatta in Europe and is open to any company who works within the construction industry.
Entrants enjoy four days of high octane racing and this is a great opportunity to cement friendships and build team spirit. There is a busy programme spread over a long weekend of racing, but there is still ample time to chill out, network and bond with colleagues and rivals alike. The event is based in Cowes Yacht Haven on the Isle of Wight and you can expect four days of intense racing and even more intense socialising. Of course, every team needs a bit of training to lay down the foundations of success and the basics of yacht racing will be hammered home by your skipper and mate prior to the start of the first race. Once off Cowes and suitably refreshed with a racing lunch, the serious action commences, with the fleet engaging for good humoured battle on the racecourse before all competitors head in to Cowes Yacht Haven for the evening.
All this racing is just the prelude to the serious action, and there are a range of entertainments held over the three different nights, including the stand out event, the ‘heroes and villains’ themed disco on Saturday night. Just be sure you don’t get plastered as there is more racing still to come. There is also a live act booked for Sunday night, but the arrangements have not yet been set in concrete. In addition to this, there are nightly prize giving ceremonies and a charity silent auction.
By Monday morning, it’s all over and all that is left is for the hardy to enjoy the Champagne breakfast before heading for home. The big question is, will your team have laid the foundations for victory or will you be left mortar-fied?
